F-Spot supports many files types, including

RAW support is limited, and some raw formats are not fully displayed. Known limitations are on:
- Fuji's RAF: only embedded jpg preview is displayed
RAW decoding is done with DCRaw. From inside F-Spot you will be able to handle RAWs using UFRaw. Some users are successfully using Bibble as photo development program.
Writing
F-Spot can optionally write information into some file formats. As of 1.0, metadata writing is supported for JPG files only.
Handled fields:
- EXIF program on import
- EXIF dates on import (see bug #454082)
- XMP tags
- XMP rating
- XMP subject used for storing photo comment
- (others?)
